We hold business contact details of publishers, editors and site owners: a name, a work email address, the website concerned, a role where it is published, and the thread of our correspondence. Almost all of it comes from pages that are public by design — a contact page, a “write for us” page, a masthead, a professional profile. The rest comes from you, when you reply to us or use a form on this page.
We write to propose a paid placement on a site you run, which is business-to-business correspondence and rests on our legitimate interest under GDPR Article 6(1)(f). Once a placement is agreed, the processing that follows rests on the performance of that agreement under Article 6(1)(b). We do not send consumer marketing, and we do not sell, rent or trade contact data.
If we never work together, your details are deleted no later than 12 months after our last email. If we do, they are kept for the length of the working relationship plus five years, which is what the accounting and tax rules require. An address you ask us to stop using stays on a suppression list indefinitely — that list exists purely so that nobody here contacts you again by mistake.
Our email provider, the provider that processes the forms on this page, and our accounting software, each acting only on our instructions. If a client asks where their article was published, they get the URL of the published piece and nothing more. Some of these providers operate outside the UAE and the EEA, in which case we rely on the standard contractual safeguards they offer.
